As Americans continue to experience a down and out economy, it does change their buying habits. Out of the frustration consumers begin to “wake up” and realize they want value for their hard earned dollar. However, a rising star is in the making – safety.
In the past, riders were all caught up in the marketing hype; where value and safety took a back seat.
Now that money does matter for the every day American; riders are learning quickly to consider what really matters when they rider – their safety!
Now is the time to learn what makes a riding jacket or glove effective – Motorcycle protection! This begins with a brief tutorial on CE rates components, the type of leather, stitching techniques and history of the company who manufacturers it. The bottom line is that your money needs to purchase what companies advertise. If you purchase a riding jacket from a company that promotes “fashion”, then expect fashion. If you purchase gloves from a company that promotes “hype” then that is what you will get. When you want performance and value, then you only need to look at Komodo Gear. A company known for “quality ” and the fact they have a hard core background in racing, then you know you’re going to get a product that performs with one goal in mind – rider safety. Not to mention, Komodo Gear is factory direct, which means there is no middle man and the price you get is the best price possible.
You decide, when you crash, do you want to trust your health to a performance company and walk away and ride another day – or is your priority to be like everyone else …there are countless stories on the Internet from riders talking about their scars from using inferior motorcycle apparel. Or, you can read up on reviews and testimonies from riders who choose Komodo Gear – and live to tell about how their gear saved their bacon!

Every year, more and more women are taking up the sport of snowboarding. So many that some of the top women’s snowboarders are having snowboards custom tailored for them.
In general, womens snowboards are different then men’s. For one, they tend to have more narrow waists. The width of a snowboard is directly related to the rider’s foot size. Since women’s feet tend to be smaller than men’s, it makes sense that the average width of a woman’s snowboard would be smaller as well. At most shops that sell snowboards, you can find charts that correlate your weight and foot size with the suggested board length , width, side cut, and type of snowboarding that you will be involved in.
There are other differences as well. And as more women take to the sport, manufacturers have already begun to take note and create more custom made snowboards specifically geared towards women.

When you become a day skipper you can take solace in the fact that your days of RYA courses are over, correct? Well, they may be over but they do not have to be. Some truly do understand that the value of these courses rests in their ability to review old material as well as provide new material. In short, you can always sign up for sailing courses on a review basis. This will allow you to review helpful and important material you may have stopped thinking about some time ago.
Does this mean that you need to re-enroll in a basic, introductory course? Actually, there is no need to do this because refresher sailing courses are commonly available and those looking to remember some old material in RYA courses that they may have otherwise forgotten can always look towards these review courses as a tremendous way to bring forth some learning skills that may have fallen by the wayside. Yes, even a day skipper with a lot of experience can forget things. That is why a refresher course is so helpful.
Sometimes, even a one weekend refresher course can be helpful. Some may think that a weekend is not enough to cover the material in RYA courses. This might be true but it is also important to remember that such sailing courses would be refresher courses to those that already possess experience. That means the program will be more of a day skipper review than one of new introductory material.

Have you been searching for a Christmas gift for a man? I think there are several people who will discover themselves lost for ideas when it comes to trying to shop for a man. Well, take a look at some of these ideas before you just run out and buy the normal shaving lotion or cologne. I know most of the time men just say that anything will be just fine and that can often times be a bit frustrating. I think it’s fairly easy to pick a gift for a woman, but to choose a Christmas gift for a man does require some effort.
First of all, when thinking about a Christmas gift for a man, think about if he has any hobbies. Does he like to fish, golf, go hunting or play sports? If so, then the first place to start is by going to your local sporting goods store. You should be able to find basically anything that relates to the above hobbies that I just mentioned.
On the other hand, there are those men who work so hard that they have all but given up on their hobbies so they can dedicate more time to their job. Do you know if he liked wood working when he was younger, but stopped doing it because of his job? If so, he would probably like some tools that relate to wood working. You can probably find these items at the local home center store. If not, try getting online and searching for wood working tools.
Finally, the last tip on a Christmas gift for a man is to think about making him a nice family photo. You can arrange several family photos in a collage and then put it in a nice picture frames. If he likes taking pictures, then this could be a good gift.

If you are interested in South Dakota hunting around the Watertown, Brookings, Sioux Falls, Mitchell, Huron, Madison or Lake Preston areas you should check out this hunting board. You can post your good or bad luck hunting, ask questions about hunting from our knowledgeable members and find what areas have been hot lately or what areas they expect to be hot.
There are abundant pheasants in the area and the Lake Preston DeSmet area is on of the major duck and geese flyways in the area. Pro guides bring their clients to this area to hunt and pheasant, ducks and goose success is phenomenal most of the time. Toni at the Lake Preston motel or Bo from the Bait Box in Lake Preston can tell you where it’s best.
Hunting can provide opportunities for many types of injuries. Being prepared is your best defense against disabling injuries or even life-threatening accidents. Knowing some basic hunting first aid and using common sense when in the wild can save both life and limb.
CPR
If you don’t know CPR, learn it. Call your local hospital, EMS, or fire department to find out when and where you can attend a community CPR class. You never know when you may need to perform CPR on a friend, family member, or even a stranger. A few hours of your time could save a life someday.
Many CPR classes offer basic first aid classes as well. Check with your local provider to see if this option is available before registering for a class.
Safety Rules during A Crisis
The first rule of safety during a crisis may sound selfish but it is important. Take care of yourself first. Check the scene of an accident for unsafe conditions. Make the area safe for yourself and bystanders before beginning first aid. The reasoning behind this rule is that if you become injured or incapacitated, you can’t help anyone else. If you become injured, rescue workers arriving on the scene will then have you as an added victim to care for. Seconds make a difference in a crisis, but take a few beforehand to ensure that you will be able to provide the help that is needed.

Whitetail deer hunting is a dangerous topic in some places but not in South Dakota. Hunters love deer and want to be able to hunt them. Non hunters love deer and don’t want hunters to hunt them. Small problem when the two groups meet.
Whitetail hunting in SD is almost always good, every year. I see so many dead deer laying alongside the interstates it makes me thing a guy should just put his hunting stand at the edge of the cornfield by the interstate.
Eastern SD is whitetail hunting mostly altho a mule deer will get lost and be found in the eastern part of the state and sometimes into Minnesota. Mule deer hunting takes place in Western SD and there is a lot of western South Dakota public hunting ground for your hunting trip.
You need to make sure that you choose the right bow for hunting as you prepare for the bow hunting season. There are a number of options on today’s market, so take the time to research all of them as it will make choosing the right bow that much easier.
Several factors will determine what kind of bow you purchase. Decide if your right or left eye is dominant, and then select your bow accordingly. This will help you as you attempt to improve your accuracy in the field.
Deal only with highly reputable companies that offer customer service and that guarantee your bow. You will be able to thoroughly enjoy the hunting season once you have found the right bow.

Gone fishing – that’s where I usually was. In the fall it was gone to fish for walleyes and northerns. Anything else we caught was an accident. Here are some northern pike techniques for newbies to catch big northerns.
One day my dad heard the northerns were biting on a small, hard to get to, out of the way, little lake that was back in the middle of a cow pasture. The road to the fishing lake was more of a trail and it’s a good thing I had a pickup as my car wouldn’t have made it back in there.
We were the only people there and I picked a spot on a small point where an arm of water that wandered back into the pasture started. It was fall and I figured the northers might be going into the shallows on the arm to bask in the sun and then come back to the deeper water to feed.
This walleye fishing techniques article is a guest article. It’s pretty good walleye info and it’s also obvious the person is from Minnesota. Lol, the walleye fishing lake that’s the walleye capital of Minnesota is Mille Lacs. I’ve fished it hundreds of times for walleyes. For many years it was known as the dead sea but after some radical new fishing rules walleye fishing is now really hot. Anyway, here’s the walleye article.
Fishing is a sport that most people have tried at least once in their lives. It seems that no matter where you live there is some type of fishing available; whether it is freshwater, deep sea, stream or pond. The techniques that are used vary greatly, as well as the equipment that is needed. The equipment and techniques depend upon the species that is being fished. My husband and I do a great deal of freshwater fishing. I love the action of fishing for pan fish and bass, but you cannot beat walleye fishing for the great tasting fillets.

While I’ve fished in the oceans before I’ve never been Blue Marlin fishing and that’s why this article is on a freshwater lakes fishing site.
Marlins are characterized as big game saltwater fish. The average weight of a blue marlin is anywhere from one hundred to five hundred pounds or possibly more. Their bodies can reach ten feet and they are mainly found in the Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic Oceans.
The blue marlin is known for its ability to fight, so you must be willing to match the marlin’s will to live in order to take the sport seriously. Just like any other fish, the importance of learning the habits of the blue marlin is essential before trying to make them submissive to a hook.
When marlin are in their prime habitat they will feed on many things including mullet, cero, whole ballyhoo, dolphin, flying fish, bonito, skipjacks, squid and Spanish mackerel. The reason for understanding the marlin’s eating habits is to know what bait will be useful to catch these great fish.

You probably have heard of one of the world’s fastest growing sports known as paint balling or more commonly referred to as “paintball”. This sport is a combination of many skills, and as such there is much more to it than simply running around the bush or field dressed up as “Rambo”.
Unfortunately there is a great deal of misinformation out there, generally put forth by people who have little, if any, real experience playing this exciting game. Tales of “so-called” injuries from playing paintball abound, yet if you wear the proper gear and follow the rules, the most you may have at the end of the day are some insignificant welts and perhaps a scrape or two from falling down or tripping while running through the bush or on the course. A very small price to pay for your participation in such as exciting, adrenaline pounding sport!
To this date, there are no verified deaths or life threatening injuries from paint balling or paintball being played in the correct manner. So what are you waiting for? If you are still unconvinced, read my article “Introduction to Paintball” for more information.
See you “on the field of battle”!

For years and years basketball was considered a finesse, or “non-contact” sport. This in spite of the great battles among the likes of Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell, two behemoths who set the standard, offensively and defensively, for what big men in basketball should be.
Years after those two had retired, a new breed of big man arrived. Shorter but stronger, this big man was built in the mold of the Knicks’ Willis Reed or Washington’s Wes Unseld. Since they were shorter, most amateur observers immediately felt they’d be at a disadvantage since basketball is in larger part built around height. But what they lacked in height they made up for in strength, and the concept of basketball strength training was born.

Does the average golfer need to worry about fitness? How fit do you need to be to play golf?
Surely being fit does not make you a better player. Have a look at some of the professionals ……. some of the unfit ones can hit the ball out of sight.
If you want to hit the ball further, and play golf free of pain, following a strength training program could be worth considering. Most players would be happy to add 30-50 yards to their drives, and without doubt, all golfers would love to finish a round of golf feeling good, and without aches and pains.

Gone are the times when Ski Jackets were all concerning staying heat, these days they not only provide warmth they also look sensible as well. The many dangers associated with out of doors activities makes the need for ski clothing very important.
The best ski clothing is one that has effective protection while not undue bulk. For the most effective protection against that mountain chill, the subsequent are glorious recommendations.
Your talent level, comfort zone and meant skiing style should be factored into your eventual alternative on ski headgear. Facemasks: A heat exchange facemask returns heat lost throughout exhaling back to your body as you inhale, protects your lungs from cold, and keeps your face dry and helps the remainder of you stay heat, from your body’s core to the guidelines of your fingers and toes. Helmets: Good ski helmets are air vented and equipped with wicking liners to stay your head warm and dry as well as safe.
Base layers see the clothing that’s found next to your skin. It is suggested that you use materials that are immune to absorption, such as silk or micro-knittend fleece. Many base layers these days are engineered with an eye to fashion also function.

A lot of things about opening a business are difficult, but you never really realize how hard advertising new business is until you try it yourself. Don’t get me wrong – there are many simple techniques for business advertising like those of solar powered fountains. But unlike solar powered fountains, the problem is that not all of them work. We live in a pretty small town, so we thought that we would do it in a pretty low-key way.
I was opening a new restaurant downtown, and I figured that enough people would see it whenever passing by to scare up some customers. Just to be sure, we painted a big sign in front of the place, had a sort of grand opening ceremony, and even put up an ad in the newspaper.

When I first heard of Michael Oher (Big Mike to all that know him), I was amazed at all he had to go through to make it to one of the top rookie picks of the Raven’s in this year’s NFL Draft. Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw will soon star in a movie about Michael Oher’s life that tells of an extremely young child in a family of 13 children who was pretty much neglected to the point that he was on his own at a very young age. If it had not been for the Tuohy family adopting him and giving him a loving home, we probably would have never heard of Mr. Oher’s inspiring story. Pick up a copy of The Blindside: Evolution of a Game” to read more about him, wait until the movie “The Blindside” comes out Nov. 20, or better yet stop by our site to read and view video clips of Michael Oher!
