Should I Have Fish in My Pond?

Monday, April 24th, 2006

When people first start hearing about ponds, they typically want just the water garden and not the fish that can come with it. Most of the people who start out not wanting anything to do with fish in their garden are the main ones who become fish lovers. So before you try to convince yourself why you shouldn’t have fish, maybe you should hear some reasons why you should.

One of the main reasons why you might not want to have fish in your pond is because of the high-maintenance that comes along with it. Well here is a little secret; having fish in your pond can in fact help your pond’s ecosystem and reduce the maintenance you would need to do in order to take care of your watergarden.Â

History of Cats

Monday, April 24th, 2006

The exact origin of the domestic cat is debatable, but overwhelming evidence points to ancient Egypt as the first origins of cat domestication.

Cats became an intricate part of Egyptian society and are depicted throughout Egyptian art. Cats became deified in this culture and are the subject of many statue’s and wall paintings in tombs of the New Kingdom (1560-1080 BC).

Pets and Children- Do they Mix?

Saturday, April 22nd, 2006

Once you have chosen the type of pet that you want, look through this information together as a family and discuss the good and bad points of the particular pet that is being considered, for example a dog needs exercise regularly and cleaning up after, a cat can be very independant and scratch furniture, hamsters, mice, rats, guinea pigs, gerbils etc all need very regular cleaning out - you will find this is the sort of job that your child will easily ‘forget’ to do, once they have their pet. This is also a god time to bring up the issue of expense of having a pet, both to purchase the pet, as well as feeding, any vet fees, vaccinations etc. Wise parents will stress the degree of commitment and responsibility that is required from the child when they are asking for a pet, and possibly even ask for some sort of monetary contribution from the children.

Use a Portable Dog Kennel to Save Space

Friday, April 21st, 2006

Thousands of people use the regular “old-time” dog kennels that take up lots of space, both in a vehicle and at home if you have them set up there to “kennel train” your animals. These types of kennels are hard to store and hard to navigate around if you have to put them in the middle of the floor or in the car for travel. Portable dog kennels can alleviate these problems. Yuk! Cleaning Cat Urine!

Friday, April 14th, 2006

To say cleaning cat urine is not much fun, is a bit like saying the Scottish winter is a bit nippy. As the proud (or daft) owner of four cats, including 2 kittens which have yet to learn to control their bladder, and an aging feline that has lost the ability to, I’ve gotta tell you: cleaning cat pee is the absolute pits.

There are a few things that will make washing away cat urine a bit more sufferable, but there’s nothing that could make it enjoyable.

Feline Acne

Tuesday, April 4th, 2006

Cat lovers often have big hearts when it comes to the furry pets and this can be a wonderful thing, but it can also lead to trouble. My friend owns two lovely cats that are very well taken care of by their owner. They are kept indoors and they visit their vet on a regular basis. My friend opened her home to a stray cat who introduced feline acne to her two cats and it has wreaked havoc on her home as well as her checkbook.

Walking Your Dog

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

When you endeavor to go about walking your dog, no matter the destination – on the city streets, in parks or in open spaces – it is necessary that he respects the disciplinary rules settled before and learned, to avoid getting into problems with other animals or people we meet.

Clean Cat Urine

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

If you are to clean cat urine out of a carpet, it’s not a good idea to rub the area with the cleaning solution. This actually works to push the urine farther into the carpeting fibers. Instead of rubbing it’s a good idea to first take some paper toweling and blot the area until the majority of the moisture has been removed.

Cleaning Cat Urine

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

There are some things that will make cleaning cat urine a bit more bearable, but there is nothing that will make it fun. I like to use Oxiclean, or some comparable product, since I am at the disadvantage of having carpets. In my previous apartment, it was relatively easy cleaning cat urine, because all I’d have to do was to get a mop and some lysol. You see, the floors were all easy to clean tile, so there was nothing to cleaning cat urine up neat as you please.

Higher Commission Is Not Always Better

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

I have seen it a million times, especially from newer affiliates. They find two similar affiliate programs and immediately assume that the one that pays the highest commission is automatically the better affiliate program… not true! As an affiliate you need to look beyond the commission and evaluate the entire program. Yes, high commission are always
nice to have but there are some things to look for that can make a high commission affiliate program practically worthless and a waste of your valuable time.

Carpet Cleaning

Friday, March 24th, 2006

I spray on the solution, let it sit a little, scrub the stain a little and the spot is gone. I am considering getting one of those spot removal carpet cleaning machines to help with scrub away some of the more difficult spots and stains.

How do “Red Nose Pitbulls” differ from other Pitbulls?

Monday, March 20th, 2006

Well, besides having a red nose they don’t.

With the exception of nose color, there is no difference between a red nose pit bull, a blue nose pit bull, or the most common black nose dogs.

A rose is a rose, and a pitbull is a pitbull, unless it has been cross-bred with another breed. The red nose dogs come from the same bloodlines as other pitbulls.

The fuss over red nosed and blue nose pitbulls, has everything to do with marketing, and nothing to to with the rareness or specialty of a pitbull.

Small Dog Clothes

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

My sister is constantly shopping for small dog clothes. She absolutely has to stop at every single pet store that falls in her path. Recently, she came out to visit us. We had to go grocery shopping and she agreed to come along (with Tinkerbell cleverly concealed of course!) However, we had barely made it out the door when my sister just had to make a detour - she’d spotted a new pet shop en route to the grocery store, and she was dying to take a peek to see if they had any small dog clothes or accessories, that might be unavailable in the stores closer to home.

Bird Bath

Wednesday, March 1st, 2006

A backyard can reveal us more than only the visions of nature, we can also hear the sounds of nature if we elect to. The pride of many, other than those award winning roses planted in the back corner, may very well be the bird bath that has been placed straight in the centre of all of the eye catching foliage. Throughout the day, once the bath is filled with a small quantity of water, birds of all colors and sizes can and will be seen playfully splashing.

Dog Health

Saturday, February 25th, 2006

Do you really know all there is to know about your canine companion’s nutritional needs? Many pet owners think they’re doing what’s best for their dogs when it comes to food, but in reality they rely on pure instinct more than science. Nutrition isn’t a guessing game, even when it comes to your pooch.  A balanced and proper diet is the building block of your dog’s overall health. Go to the following link for more information.
