Needless to say, the effects of this disease are not pleasant and there also does not seem to be anything specific that can be said to trigger such a condition. However, emotional upheavals as well as physical illnesses, events or even the environment have been known to cause asthma, and so it is quite possible to suffer from such a condition by simply being in a room filled with cigarette smoke, or it could even occur due to an argument.

If you have a high cholesterol problem, it is time for you to consider the benefits of switching to low cholesterol diet.
A low cholesterol diet should include foods that are free from fat content and which also include lean meats and fish as well as skinless poultry. In addition, it is highly recommend to consume fruits and vegetables, which along with monostaturates and olive oil can help control cholesterol levels.
When you switch to eating low cholesterol diet, you would evidently not consume saturated fats, full-fat dairy foods, egg yolks as well as processed meats. Your low cholesterol diet should also consist of nuts, soy and fiber as well as oatmeal – all of which help lower bad cholesterol levels.

One of the things you can do to start reducing your bad cholesterol is having a healthy breakfast every day. One of the easiest ways to slip soluble fiber into your diet is with a breakfast of oats. Oatmeal or oat bran is a very good way to reduce your bad cholesterol levels. Ten grams a day of soluble fiber is what you should aim for.
Also, some cooking oils such as palm and coconut oil are bad for you. If you’re working at reducing cholesterol then switching to healthier oil will help do this. Olive oil has been talked about for some time now as the healthiest vegetable oil out there. Two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil in your daily diet can help to lower bad cholesterol levels while leaving your good cholesterol levels intact.
Walnuts also have the added bonus of keeping your blood vessels healthy and elastic. A handful everyday should do the trick, try and eat them raw.

If you or someone you love is facing a problem with drugs, alcohol or other addictions, it is wise to consider seeking help from a drug treatment facility. There are many drug treatment centers all over the country. Some facilities are operated by the state government and are for court ordered cases or individuals who cannot afford a private inpatient program. Then there are private facilities that require patients to have insurance coverage or enough money to enroll in the program. Cholesterol is a naturally occurring waxy substance in the body. Cholesterol is produced by the liver to do a number of good things for human health. Cholesterol is essential to produce vitamin D, build cell walls and create bile salts to aid the digestion of fat.
There are a number of factors that will make a person more likely to have high levels of cholesterol. The older you get the more likely you are to develop high cholesterol.
When there is too much bad cholesterol in your body, a hardening of the arteries can happen. What happens is that bad cholesterol will cause a build up of plaque that will block the arteries and decrease blood flow. Good cholesterol on the other hand will carry excess cholesterol back to the liver to be expelled.

Zoloft is known to be one of the most effective antidepressants ever being sold. While the well-known side effects of Zoloft are relatively mild compared to the usefulness of the drug, there is one other side effect that has started to get widespread exposure. Recently, Zoloft has been found to be one of the causes of high cholesterol.
Indeed, the only people who will notice Zoloft’s effect on their cholesterol are the ones to whom it matters most.
High cholesterol is linked with a likelihood of cardiovascular disease, which makes the connections between Zoloft and high cholesterol that much more alarming. If you or your family has a tendency to suffer from heart disease, you must avoid taking Zoloft and prevent high cholesterol.

Blueberries, which I love, have a component that is said to aid in lowering cholesterol just as efficiently as any medical drug or medication.
Consuming whole grains and oats will also prevent or reduce the risk of heart disease and lower cholesterol levels by flushing out unnecessary fats in the body as well as preventing plaque or fatty deposits in the arterial walls.
Walnuts, almonds and pistachios are nuts among the foods that lower cholesterol.
Some fish also contain sufficient amounts of Omega 3 to be helpful in preventing or reducing the harmful cholesterol in our blood.

I first learned about Aloe vera products in Israel many years ago. When I was there, I was impressed by these giant, bizarre looking plants that were growing everywhere. As an experiment, I broke a leaf off of one of them and saw this green ooze coming out of it. When I asked what it was, my mom responded that it was the aloe vera plant. She told me that it was good for cuts and scrapes of all kinds. I had occasion enough to test it while I was there.

You should know that the low carbohydrate food lists which state only the carb content are misleading. In order to calculate the total carbs, you need to subtract the fiber gram content from the total carbohydrates.
For dieters, it’s better to eat your veggies. You burn more calories digesting the fiber. You can take a fiber supplement if you wish, but you may as well enjoy your veggies. The end result will be basically the same.

2.5 million of visits to the doctor every year are for treating constipation of older people and that the number of people suffering from constipation increases with age. Women, blacks, and people in lower socio-economic levels as well as those living in rural areas and in the Northern states are also more likely to suffer from constipation.
Although constipation is not a direct consequence of aging, it is often a refractory result of the normal things that are associated with age. Older people tend to be more sedentary and get less exercise thereby making them more prone to constipation problems. Also, medical treatments that are usually taken by older adults may cause constipation as a side effect. The bowel muscles also weaken as a person ages which makes it more difficult and less effective to move waste.

Cholesterol testing can help find out whether you have enough good cholesterol, too much bad cholesterol, the total amount of cholesterol in your bloodstream, and the presence of triglyceride levels that can cause blockages in the arteries.
Cholesterol testing is a normal blood test, which should be carried out every five years, and will help you get a better picture of your state of health, and what you can do to be healthier.
To prepare for cholesterol testing you should fast for fourteen hours before the test, which means no food or drink, with the exception of water, before you take the test.
After the blood test you can start eating again as you would normally do.
After the test your doctor will send the blood sample for analysis and determine the likelihood that you might develop heart disease.

For those like me who have attained the age of thirty, chances are that your doctor has already taken a cholesterol reading while giving you a physical examination. It is important that you understand the significance of the cholesterol numbers so that you can take appropriate steps to treat problems arising from high LDL cholesterol levels.
In fact, it would even help if you could find out cholesterol numbers for your other family members since these numbers can also help your doctor get a better idea about possible family history problems and determine how to deal with your case from a wider perspective.
A good explanation of these numbers can be obtained through your doctor as well as by doing some research on the Internet.

I have tried everything I could to keep my cholesterol in check with little or no success. That is when I decided that it is probably time to opt for cholesterol medications even though I never wanted to use that kind of drug. There are different medications that will do different things. I have been told that all the medications have different possible side effects.
Your cholesterol levels, family history and other risk factors towards developing heart disease will help your doctor decide what medication is best for you.

In the world of health, cholesterol is sometimes misunderstood and underestimated. Cholesterol is completely necessary for the growth of your body, but can also lead to devastating health problems if used improperly. That is why a good cholesterol reading is necessary.
Cholesterol readings should be performed regularly by your doctor, but only as a precaution. In between visits to the health professional, there are many things that you can do to keep bad cholesterol at bay, like a healthy diet and exercising.
Cholesterol readings typically include an LDL cholesterol reading, an HDL cholesterol reading and a total cholesterol reading. You could gravitate towards the total cholesterol reading, but it really isn’t the most important number. Be sure to keep your eyes on the whole picture.

Did you know that you could check your cholesterol levels at home and without needing to visit your doctor? To start with, you could use home cholesterol kits and there are also cholesterol meters available. In fact, a cholesterol meter works very much in the same way as do blood glucose monitors and it is also a lot more accurate than trying to read litmus test results.
To use a cholesterol meter requires taking a drop of blood that is then put on a test strip that is then inserted into the cholesterol meter that in turn will output a certain number that shows what your total level of cholesterol is.
But you have to keep in mind that the findings of the cholesterol meter will only show you the total level of cholesterol in your blood and won’t actually tell you about your LDL and HDL levels of cholesterol. Thus, to find these levels you would have to visit your doctor.

What most don’t realize about plans like the South Beach Diet is that it is not a quick fix. This is something that you have to commit to, and you should do so for the rest of your life. That means you are taking on a lifestyle change rather than just a change in eating habits that you will drop once you get to your goal. When you do that, you will go right back to the habits that had you overweight and unhealthy to begin with, and that will mean failure. Instead, think of plans like the South Beach Diet as a way to change your life for good.

The most important reason why your body has too much cholesterol is because your liver has started to produce more cholesterol than is required by the body.
High cholesterol levels can also be caused by alcohol abuse, poor diet, sedentary way of life and also by smoking. It is also possible for cholesterol levels to rise because you happen to be suffering from gastro-intestinal problems, if you have a weight problem or you are diabetic
In fact, most of the cholesterol found in the body is produced by the liver while the remaining amounts are ingested from the foods we eat.
When cholesterol levels are within acceptable limits it will benefit the body and it is only when the levels rise beyond recommended levels that the body comes under different health threats.

People tend to overlook the fact that cholesterol is a very important substance to the human body, and is only harmful if consumed in unhealthy quantities.
A cholesterol-free diet may not be the wisest choice if you’re trying to keep your heart and body strong. Simply choosing a balanced diet will help you to weed out the bad cholesterol and keep the good cholesterol.
Rather than trying to avoid cholesterol altogether, avoid a cholesterol-free diet and instead look for foods that are low in LDL cholesterol and high in HDL cholesterol.
