Small Dog Toys versus Large Dog Toys

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

Is there really a difference between Small Dog Toys and Large Dog Toys?

The size of your dog will help determine which toys are most suitable.  You wouldn’t want to give a large bone to a Dachshund, nor would giving a small ball to a Saint Bernard be the best idea; he might swallow it in one gulp.  That’s why they make small dog toys and large dog toys.  Just like humans, one size does not always fit all.

Why you need to buy the proper Small Dog Toys

The cure and ill of athletic tape

Sunday, May 14th, 2006

How can an athletic tape help?
So how can athletic tape help athletes? Not with serious, chronic injuries but with smaller injuries which won’t end an athletic career, but may make it more uncomfortable for a time. Sore ankles, small cases of tendonitis, or minor strains or sprains can all be supported by appropriate wrappings with athletic tape. When taping an injury, it’s important to give the injured area, be it an ankle, elbow, or limb, with enough athletic tape to adequately support the area and take stress off the injury. Be sure to avoid wrapping the athletic tape too tight, as this can cut down on circulation to the injured area and lengthen the amount of time the injury needs to heal. However, if the injury is wrapped correctly, the athletic tape can shorten the amount of time needed to heal completely.

The Air Hockey Table. Cheap, Fun, and Entertaining.

One of the great things about air hockey is that it’s cheap, great fun, and entertaining. There’s none of that expensive field hockey equipment to purchase, and no risk of broken bones or other injuries either.  Soon other people were starting to ask to join our air table hockey competitions. It turned us all, in a small way, into local celebrities and made our Friday nights in particular, so much more fun.

Billiard Balls

Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

I heard the click of custom billiard balls breaking across a table and looked up. There she was, sleek and lean in a jean vest and cowboy hat, leaning low over the table and aiming up her next shot already. The man she was with didn’t know what he was in for, as she leaned over the billiard table.  I could see before he even laid his cue into the billiard balls, he wasn’t someone who had what it took. But I did.

There are no perfect answers to any of these questions, but still they are important and helpful to look at, especially for parents with a kid who adores toy trains.

Toy Soldiers

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

Article about Toy Soldiers

Sure, the little green toy soldiers couldn’t change weapons; the guy loading the mortar could never pack up his mortar and pull out the M-1 that he slung across his shoulder. The sergeant who had his hand cupped to his mouth could never stop yelling at his troops and sit down to a cup of coffee, and the sniper laying prone in the dirt could never stand up and dust off his clothes. These toy soldiers didn’t have one point of articulation, much less 24, but that wasn’t important.

Royal Flush

Wednesday, April 19th, 2006

Article about the Royal Flush

A royal flush is a ten, jack, queen, king, and ace all of the same suit. In the poker hand hierarchy, the Royal Flush is the king. However, it is not actually a separate hand of its own, but rather the highest ranking form of the ‘straight flush’. Since the straight flush is ranked based on the highest card in the group, and since Aces are the highest ranking card in poker, a royal flush is the best possible straight flush. It’s also referred to as a ‘super flush’, or a ‘nut straight flush’.

Winning Poker

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

Aggressive poker is in fact winning poker, most of the time. However, you have to have something to be aggressive with. Going all in with a terrible hand is certainly aggressive, but probably not a wise decision unless you are somehow certain you have your opponents beat. It is usually only recommended to be aggressive when you have a decent chance of winning.

Play Online Games

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

I still love to play online games like these, even though internet gaming has come a long way since. The simple games are often the most fun, in my opinion. At any time of day you can play online games like chess or cards with people all over the world. They are internationally recognized games, everyone knows how to play, and you can jump right in even if you only have a few minutes free time. Because it is so easy to play online games, it can be hard to get any work done! Indeed, one of my favorite times to play online games was at work when no one else was looking.
