Developing inner harmony with Dahn Yoga

Dahn yoga is a form of yoga that involves training the mind and the body and combines deep stretching, meditative breathing and other techniques that include energy awareness training. The objective is to help those who practice yoga to achieve a high level of potential for their personal selves. Dahn yoga was created by Ilchi Lee and is considered to be a highly effective method of exercise for those individuals who are enamored of its effect and its ability to create harmony in the practitioner.

Dahn Hak is the traditional name of Dahn yoga, which, when translated, means the study of energy. In the Korean language, the meaning of Dahn is the vital, primal energy which is inherent in all forms of life, while Hak is a reference to the study of a particular philosophy or theory. Combined, the meaning is referred to the study of the energy and the system of energy for the purpose of their own well-being and self development. The literal translation is a very straightforward indication of what the practice is all about, as individuals are looking to improve their ability to manipulate the energy of the Spirit and the body.

During this type of extremely intense training, individuals learn to communicate through energy with their bodies. While the body’s energy is being circulated and stimulated its ability to heal is brought to the forefront and its natural power is activated. With this continuous exercise, the individual can bring themselves to optimum health and enjoy the healing powers that the Dahn yoga embodies. This allows them to gain mastership over their individual bodies by utilizing the medium of energy referred to as ki.
