What is Cellulite and How is it Treated?
October 25th, 2008If you would ask what would be one of the common struggles many women have to face, it would be the struggle with cellulite. Once upon a time, this problem was associated with being overweight. Today, we know that everyone is susceptible to this issue, even athletes who are at their ideal body weight. The problem occurs when fat cells located under the septae expand and stretch out the connective tissue that covers them. This connective tissue becomes hard while the fat surrounding the tissue gets bigger due to water weight. The hard connective tissue and expanding fat causes the skin to take on an orange peel or cottage cheese appearance.
There are a variety of factors that are thought to cause or encourage the formation of this type of fat. One common cause is aging.
