September 5th, 2008I will never, ever forget watching the Olympics in the summer of 1992. It was the first time that professional basketball players were allowed to even compete in the Olympics. Thus, the original Dream Team was formed, probably the greatest ever formulated, and Michael Jordan carried the American team to an undefeated gold medal.
The excitement from those games was simply powerful. I highly doubt that anyone has ever cheered for another Olympics basketball team as much as they cheered in 1992. His popularity simply continued to grow after that accomplishment.
