Specifications for Wheel Chair Ramps

When you are considering building a wheel chair ramp for access to a building by handicapped persons, you should  determine what the proper length of the ramp should be. For every one inch of rise, there needs to be 12 inches of ramp length. The ramp length should not exceed 30 feet without having a landing. The minimum width of the ramp should be 36 inches or 3 feet. The wheelchair ramp may be of many different varieties with each one being used for different purposes. Some are permanent while others may be semi-permanent or even portable.
