This is because the real origin of these stretch marks is too much of the hormones known as glucocorticoids causing the skin to lose its elasticity. When something then causes the skin to stretch, such as pregnancy or an increase in weight, there is no enough collagen for natural skin renewal to take place. The fibers, which hold the skin together, break and lose elasticity causing a lack of melanocyte cells. These are the cells which give skin its color.
