Helpful Tips on Dealing With a Picky Eater Kid

November 28th, 2007

Are you faced trying to figure out how to handle a picky eater kid? Don’t worry, you are not alone. This is something that many families deal with and there are ways to make this situation easier to handle. Even though this can be very annoying it is important that you don’t try and force your child to eat. This is not a solution. In fact, it can actually cause more problems for you and your child. You don’t have to worry about your picky eater starving, they will eat before it gets to this point and a child does not need as much to eat as an adult to stay healthy.

One great tip for dealing with a picky eater kid is to make it a point to introduce them to new foods. You can add something new once or twice a week. When your child sees other members of the family trying new things it will help to encourage them to do the same. Have a set time for meals and don’t allow snacking in-between. A child won’t eat if they are not hungry. If you find it necessary to allow snacks, then at least limit them to no more than two a day and make them healthy snacks. Make your meals fun and relaxing and engage in good happy conversations.
