Botox for Excessive Sweating
November 28th, 2007In comparison to many of the alternative treatments available for profuse sweating - such as topical agents, tablets or surgery - Botox is extremely effective. Treatment can be uncomfortable but should not be painful, although many clinics offer local anaesthetic if the patient is concerned about the discomfort. The results are noticeable within 48 hours and the full effectiveness of the treatment becomes apparent after 7 days. The duration of the results vary from person to person, but the effects of Botox treatment usually last between 6 and 10 months when used for profuse sweating. It is considered safe to have repeat treatments or to have ‘top ups’ if the first treatment did not have the desired effect.
